Jamestown, NC. The Old North State Lacrosse Club has reached agreement with Coach Greg Paradine to assume the head coaching position for their nationally recognized U19 Orange team. Coach Paradine is the former 7 year Assistant Coach of the UNC Tar Heels and the current Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach at Division 2 Lenoir-Rhyne College. In his 7 years with the Tar Heels he served as Offensive Coordinator, Defensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator. He graduated from UNC in 1993 and was an Honorable Mention All-American defenseman in 1992 and a First Team All-American defenseman in 1993.
Coach Goldsmith, Founder and Executive Director of Old North State Lacrosse, is extremely pleased with the addition of Coach Paradine to the ONS staff. “Coach Paradine will help take our U19 program to another level. We have experienced tremendous success on the field in the past few years. We have competed against and defeated teams from all of the hotbeds including Long Island, Baltimore, Syracuse and Philadelphia. But now, Coach Paradine will take our program to another level as far as college recruiting is concerned. He has a tremendous amount of contacts and influence all over the country and this will serve to help all of our players to get more recognition on the national stage. We are looking forward to maintaining our success on the field and growing our efforts to help our members go on to play at the college level.”
ONS recently held a Recruiting Seminar at Greensboro College which included Coach Paradine as well as coaches from UNC, Greensboro College, NC State and High Point University. The purpose was to provide information for both players and parents on the recruiting process at the many different competitive levels of college lacrosse. The coaches spoke to a full house of players and parents who have expressed interested in learning more about the process at all levels. Many parents were very grateful for the opportunity to hear from the college coaches. Some of the responses received by Coach Goldsmith included:
“Dear Mark:
Thank you for organizing this great event. We really appreciated the important information”. Thank you for having the college recruiting seminar last night. Although I could not come, my husband and son said it was very beneficial and shared the information with me. Thank you for thinking about the future of our boys and giving them the opportunities to hear from these colleges and universities.” Mark, I thought the Recruiting Seminar last night was indeed very informative. Especially, the emphasis on classroom work and how important that actually can be. Also, a key point to me was discussed about which school to attend first without lacrosse swaying that decision. I have noticed in the past in dealing with Chase, a lot of those players he played with are no longer into lacrosse. They all decided on being a student only, maybe that part about time management and it being a job wasn't worth their time after all. Lacrosse at the college level does require your full attention and time.
Thanks again,
David
And some other comments such as
“That was a great presentation last night. It was very informative and we appreciate the effort it took to bring it all together.”
“Thank you for setting this up—I appreciate all you do for the players!”
“Mark, thank you for putting this together. It was very informative.”
“Thank you Coach Goldsmith for arranging an eye opening recruiting seminar!”
The overwhelming success of the seminar only emphasizes the significance of the addition of Coach Paradine to the Old North State Staff. The continuation and increased success of the Orange Team will undoubtedly enhance the exposure of team members on the National level.
